Newsletter: 2nd Quarter 2005
Welcome to the 2nd issue of our GC3 Newsletter for 2005.
The lead article for this issue proudly announces the official launch of the Gladstone Centre for Clean Coal. This represents the culmination of more than three years of hard preparatory work for a small but energetic team. More than 50 invited industry representatives and others attended the launch and learned of our achievements, our directions for the future and our capabilities.
This news is followed by a very interesting article by the respected CEO of the Centre of Low Emission Technology, Dr. Kelly Thambimuthu. In his article he overviews his research Centre's interaction with Governments and electricity generators to provide clean economical power for the state. This theme is continued in an informative story on the Queensland Coke and Energy Coke and Power Project which is making good use of the defunct AMC Stanwell Park site.
Anglo Coal's Callide mine and the Callide Liaison Forum (CLF) describe how they are working with our local shires, in particular the Banana Shire Council to improve relations.
We also look at how the recent State Budget has invested in the future of coal.
Finally, the newsletter gives some information for the upcoming the International Clean Coal Generation 2005 Conference to be held in Denver Colorado in September 2005.
I hope that you find the stories interesting and useful.
